Welcome to the Future of R&B!
The next BIG thing is here! What do you get when R&B, hip hop, soca and reggae are mixed together? The answer: NYpoleon. Born in Trinidad, then moving to New Jersey as a teenager, this up and coming R&B singer was influenced by a wide range of artists. These included Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Bob Marley and The Notorious BIG. NYpoleon has been singing and performing music since age 6. He led his church choir as a teenager in Trinidad and also became known as a dynamic performer and actor. Growing up, NYpoleon used music as a relief when faced with harsh challenges. This also explains why his songs are so real because they all express his true feelings and experiences.
NYpoleon survived a very rough childhood in the streets of Trinidad. He grew up in a crime ridden neighborhood and frequently got into fights. This led to an almost fatal fall head first during a fight one evening after school, which left him hospitalized and in critical condition. Although still mentally scarred from this and other experiences, he would later physically recover with a new purpose to life. “After being through all I’ve been through, it’s easy to have a negative perspective of life. But I now believe my unfortunate experiences happened for a reason, and that is for me to share my story with the world. My music is my therapy. It heals the wounds and my fans feel my pain. It’s real” says the 6’3” R&B singer. After seeing many of his friends either jailed or killed in the streets, he decided to move to New Jersey and start a new life through music. He used his own money and recorded several songs and mixtapes, which created buzz on the streets and led to a role in the independent film “Demo”.
Continuing on with his success and growing fan base, he then recorded 24 more songs, 12 of which became his current album “The Warm Up”. The album promises something for everyone; from the “Club Bangers” to contemporary love songs to the “real issues” songs. The lead single, the up-tempo track “Pimp-a-fyin” is a definite number one hit! Every so often an artist comes around that goes against the norms and turns the industry on its head. NYpoleon is such an artist. You can look forward to seeing this young star shine for a long time to come!
